The latest thinking is that there is no one type of mattress that is best for everyone, also including people with chronic back pain. But making the right choice can be difficult. There are so many products in the market, and just because you lie on a mattress and it feels good in a showroom does not mean that you are going to have a good sleep on it for the next coming years.

When researchers at Oklahoma State University randomly suggested 62 people to sleep in a variety of new beds for 28 days, they found that nearly all of them began to sleep better. The most important thing was that the beds were new. They remarked that the average age of the older beds of the participants was 9.5 years. Almost every new replacement would be better than the saggy foundation of an old mattress. But it could pay spring for at least one mid-priced model.
